The Conclusion MI Fans Have Been Waiting For. . .City of Heavenly Fire

I can hardly contain my excitement! The concluding novel to the Mortal Instruments series will be releasing in approximately 7 days! I pre-orded my copy back in March and then of course I was called for Jury Duty on the 27th so I will not be home to receive my golden copy. I will not hear the angels sing as I open that sealed B&N box. . . at least not until I am released from my civil duties. I have been waiting for this book for about five years. I can remember borrowing the first book from a friend and reading it in about a day. Then calling her up in a panic because I needed the next one ASAP. After I finished that one I had to wait a year for the next one which was infuriating. if you are a fan you understand the pain after you read that incredibly hideous cliff-hanger at the end of City of Ashes. However, I am feeling very much the same as I felt about the end of Harry Potter, Twilight, and several other longer series I have read. The excitement is over which makes me sad. However, Clare has said she has another series in the making, this one taking place in L.A. after the end of MI. She is not done with the Shadowhunters yet thankfully! Anyways the point is get your copy on Tuesday. . . and if you are just now tuning in, get reading and join in on the magic! Cassandra Clare (however unreal her identity is) is one of my favorite authors. She has always been one of the authors who inspired me to write. I will never be able to thank her for that in person.

The Literal Heart of Jesus, The Wish Granting Factory, and John Green

I know there is a lot of media hype right now because The Fault In Our Stars by John Green is set to hit theaters June 6th in the US...But I have to share this review with you anyways.

Let me start by first saying. . .This book has literally changed my life. I know, I know, that probably sounds really ridiculous and corny and nerdy, but honestly guys I cannot get Augustus Waters and Hazel Grace's story out of my head. I've been thinking about them and the things I learned from this book all day. If I wasn't already a religious person who strongly believed in the Bible, I would probably tell you that this book could be the Bible. But since I am a religious person I won't say that.

If John Green were ever to visit our little "Literal Heart of Jesus" (our literary therapy place here on the internet) I would want him to know that The Fault In Our Stars is to me what An Imperial Affliction is to Hazel and Augustus. I don't have cancer or any other serious illness or anything, but that's not the point. You don't need to be sick to have that kind of connection. I would want to thank him for all the beautiful and incredibly amazing lessons he has taught me through this book, such as:

1. Life is short. Live like you're dying. Love like you're dying.

2. Life is not a wish granting factory. If you want something, work for it.

3. Sick people are still people. They don't necessarily want your pity. They want your honesty.  

4. True love is real and it comes in all forms.

This isn't all but I don't want to list them all. Some are just for me personally. I can promise you that after reading this book, you will not be left empty handed. You will take something from this book I can guarantee it.
 

This was not just an amazing love story of two terminally ill teenagers. There is so much more involved. One minute you will be laughing at the hysterically funny banter the characters always seem to have going. The next you will be sobbing your eyes out because you have just been shell shocked by some incredibly profound and intense life lesson or discovery. When I finally finished reading the last page I wanted so badly to flip it over and start again. However, just like Hazel and Augustus, I was left with questions. So again, like Hazel and Augustus I will ask you Mr. Green. If you ever come across this review, I ask you, What happened to Hazel? Did Isaac ever get his robot eyes? Did Augustus's parents split up? Did Monica ever beg for forgiveness? Was there ever a sequel to An Imperial Affliction? and finally sir, what truly ever happened to the hamster Sisyphus?

It All Began With A Black-Out. . . LEGEND SERIES BY MARIE LU

So about a week ago, the town where I live was experiencing one of it's seasonal spring storms and unfortunately for me, my power went out early on Saturday afternoon. Little did I know that I was about to read one of the greatest series EVER! Out of boredom, I picked the first book my eyes landed on. This magical book is called LEGEND by Marie Lu. It took me a day and a half to read this book and I was so entertained and intrigued that I snuck to Target before church on that Sunday to pick up the next two books. It took me all of the following week to get through the series.

Lets do negatives first. Just get it over with.

1. I (being incredibly OCD and picky) picked up on several grammatical and spelling errors. Also, sometimes it seemed like her sentences were written a little backwards, like it sounded wrong when I was reading it. But that's just her own personal stylistic choices. Now if I'm correct, I believe she majored in computer sciences or something so she didn't set out to write a series, it just kind of happened. Also, she's human, those things happen to everyone. But that's what you have an editor for. Just saying.

2. Some of the lines and scenes came off incredibly cheesy. . . but that could just be my own personal preference.

Now lets focus on the AMAZING things about this series!

I loved her characters. I was emotionally invested in them by the middle of LEGEND. When I wasn't reading, I was wondering what was going to happen to them. I thought they were incredibly well developed and believable. Kudos to you Marie! That's really hard to do. I felt like the story flowed smoothly and transitioned from one problem to the next. Also, her ability to create several unique countries with completely separate but somehow equally dysfunctional governments is insane! I was thoroughly impressed. Her world-building, her characters, her story line. Everything came together to create this amazing story that tore at my heart strings. I was glued to the pages.

If you haven't read these yet, I suggest you do so immediately! Pronto. I mean stop reading this and get on it.

I'm back!

Hey guys! It has been a long time since my last post. It has been quite the semester! I can't even believe it is almost June. It's crazy how fast the time flew by! However, I didn't really have a lot to post about because I had NO time to read anything, unless you count Truman by David McCullough. . .which I don't. Bleh! Since my semester has boiled down to finals week, I finally got some free time to myself to read. And let me tell you, once I started, I didn't stop. So luckily for you I have some new books to vent and goosh about! So, here I go!
