The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan

So this week I am reading The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan. If any of you ever watch I Am Legend with Will Smith you will seriously like this book. It has a few gory parts so beware. But for the most part this is a totally awesome book. And yes there is a sequel.
"In Mary's world there are simple truths. The Sisterhood always knows best. The Guardians will protect and serve. The Unconsecrated will never relent. And you must always mind the fence that surrounds the village; the fence that protects the village from the Forest of Hands and Teeth. But, slowly, Mary’s truths are failing her. She’s learning things she never wanted to know about the Sisterhood and its secrets, and the Guardians and their power, and about the Unconsecrated and their relentlessness. When the fence is breached and her world is thrown into chaos, she must choose between her village and her future—between the one she loves and the one who loves her. And she must face the truth about the Forest of Hands and Teeth. Could there be life outside a world surrounded in so much death?"
This book is action packed with a good plot. I was never once bored with Mary's adventures. Check it out!

Evermore by Alyson Noel

So I read this really good series By Alyson Noel, called the Immortals Series. The first book is called Evermore. Then there's Blue Moon and Shadwoland. There is also another book on the way. Here is a little info. . ."Ever, trying to drown out her new psychic powers by listening to loud music and covering herself with hooded sweatshirts and sunglasses, feels a sudden and overwhelming connection to Damen, the too-good-to-be true new guy at school. Unlike the other people she has encountered since the accident she somehow survived, she cannot see his aura or hear his thoughts. It is clear from the start that something is not quite normal with Damen. He does not seem to eat or sleep, conjures flowers, has the uncanny ability to seem to know what Ever is thinking, and has knowledge far beyond his seventeen years. Beautiful and cruel Drina seems determined to make to Ever suffer. Drina, Damen, and Ever share a long history as their lives have been entwined for hundreds of years. This first novel in the Immortals series will appeal to fans of the Twilight books by Stephenie Meyer, and in fact, seems heavily inspired by it. Although here the beings are immortal, the partial explanation of what that entails is revealed in the closing chapters of the book, which poke a healthy amount of fun at the idea of vampires existing. Ever is ultimately a likeable character as she heals and learns to forgive herself for the accident that killed the rest of her family and let go of her dead younger sister, Riley, who has been a companion to Ever throughout the book. She also falls head over heels in love during the process."

The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare

So a while back I read a series from a friend of mine. There is three books. They are better than anything else I have ever read. Not joking. The series is called The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare. Here is a little about the first book...
"Their hidden world is about to be revealed....
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder — much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Clary knows she should call the police, but it's hard to explain a murder when the body disappears into thin air and the murderers are invisible to everyone but Clary.
Equally startled by her ability to see them, the murderers explain themselves as Shadowhunters: a secret tribe of warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. Within twenty-four hours, Clary's mother disappears and Clary herself is almost killed by a grotesque demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know...."
This is a really good series! ENJOY! Oh and by the way, the next book comes out in March 2011...Fallen Angel.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan
Hey guys! I am currently reading the Percy Jackson series. They are really good and currently has five books. If you like action, monsters, and a little mythology, this is the series for you. I am on the third book and am really enjoying them. This story has mythical monsters and Olympian Gods. The books are:- The Lightning Thief
- The Sea of Monsters
- The Titan's Curse
- The Battle of the Labyrinth
- The Last Olympian
Here is a little more about the first book. . .
" Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school . . . again. No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to stay out of trouble. But can he really be expected to stand by and watch while a bully picks on his scrawny best friend? Or not defend himself against his pre-algebra teacher when she turns into a monster and tries to kill him? Of course, no one believes Percy about the monster incident; he's not even sure he believes himself.Until the Minotaur chases him to summer camp.Suddenly, mythical creatures seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. The gods of Mount Olympus, he's coming to realize, are very much alive in the twenty-first century. And worse, he's angered a few of them: Zeus's master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Now Percy has just ten days to find and return Zeus's stolen property, and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. On a daring road trip from their summer camp in New York to the gates of the Underworld in Los Angeles, Percy and his friends–one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena–will face a host of enemies determined to stop them. To succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of failure and betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves. "

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

This is the second to the Hunger Games bu Suzanne Collins.
"Against all odds, Katniss has won the Hunger Games. She and fellow District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark are miraculously still alive. Katniss should be relieved, happy even. After all, she has returned to her family and her longtime friend, Gale. Yet nothing is the way Katniss wishes it to be. Gale holds her at an icy distance. Peeta had turned his back on her completely. And there are whispers of a rebellion against the Capitol-a rebellion that Katniss and Peeta may have helped create. Much to her shock, Katniss has fueled an unrest she's afraid she cannot stop. And what scares her even more is that she's not entirely convinced she should try. As time draws near for Katniss and Peeta to visit the districts on the Capitol's cruel Victory Tour, the stakes are higher than ever. If they can't prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that they are lost in their love for each other, the consequences will be horrifying."
this is a great sequal and just to let you know the next book comes out on August 24, 2010. Mocking Jay. Look for it!!!

Fairest by Gail Carson Levine

I read this book about a month ago. It was soooo good, and I loved it.
"Aza's singing is the fairest in all the land, and the most unusual. She can "throw" her voice so it seems to come from anywhere. But singing is only one of the two qualities prized in the Kingdom of Ayortha. Aza doesn't possess the other: beauty. Not even close. She's hidden in the shadows in her parent's inn, but when she becomes lady-in-waiting to the new queen, she has to step into the light-especially when the queen demands a dangerous favor. A magic mirror, a charming prince, a jealous queen, palace intrigue, and an injured king twine into a maze that Aza must penetrate to save herself and her beloved kingdom."
This is a magical book and a great read. enjoy!!

Fallen by Lauren Kate

So this is a book I found a few weeks ago. So far it is so good I can't seem to focus on anything else. I can't put it down. Here is a little about the book....
"There's something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.
Mysterious and aloof he captures Luce Price's attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at Sword & Cross boarding school in Savanna. He's the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are screw ups, and security cameras watch every move.Except Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce- he goes out of his way to make that very cleat. But she can't let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, Luce has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . .even if it kills her."

Lisa's Corner
So Lisa has just sent me these:
The Beating:
The beat of your heart
against my skin,
sings a lullaby,
To every sin,
Broken dreams
And heartache,
But it is a song
I just can't pin.
-Lisa
Never Again:
You broke my heart once,
But never again,
Will I fall for your devilish grin.
-Lisa
Thoughts Of A Heart:
A smile
A laugh
A secretive wink
All make me think
If you ever really cared.

When the lift’s doors open, Thomas finds himself surrounded by kids who welcome him to the Glade—a large, open expanse surrounded by stone walls.Just like Thomas, the Gladers don’t know why or how they got to the Glade. All they know is that every morning the stone doors to the maze that surrounds them have opened. Every night they’ve closed tight. And every 30 days a new boy has been delivered in the lift.Thomas was expected. But the next day, a girl is sent up—the first girl to ever arrive in the Glade. And more surprising yet is the message she delivers. Thomas might be more important than he could ever guess. If only he could unlock the dark secrets buried within his mind. "

The Van Alen Legacy by Melissa De La Cruz

Hey everyone! Ok so exactly five minutes ago I finished the 4th Blue Bloods book by Melissa De La Cruz called The Van Alen Legacy. It was so good I didn't put it down for like three days. This series is all about vampires and romance, and action. These are a great read it you, like me, love all those things. Here is a description:
"With the stunning revelation surrounding Bliss's true identity comes the growing threat of the sinister Silver Bloods. Once left to live the glamorous life in New York city, the Blue Bloods now find themselves in an epic battle for survival. Not to worry; love is still in the air for the young vampires of the Upper East side. Or is it? Schuyler has made her choice. She has forsaken Jack for Oliver, choosing human over vampire. But old lovers die hard. . . and even coldhearted Mimi seems to suffer from the ties that bind."
I really love this series and hope Melissa keeps writing. :)
Just a reminder to all of you, send me any book recomendations so I can add then to my list for my summer reading list.

Graceling By Kristen Cashore

Hey again! I wanted to make sure you all heard about this book! It is amazing!! I loved every second I read it! I didn't put it down for 2 days and when I was finished, I was left wanting more. It is called Graceling by Kristen Cashore. Here's a little bit about it:
"In a land where the "Graced" are used as tools and toys for the King, Katsa struggles to maintain her independance. Katsa's grace is killing. Her uncle, the king, uses Katsa as a torturer and executioner to those in his Kingdom that have wronged him. Although Katsa's grace is used at the King's command, Katsa is only a young adult yearning to discover herself. This book is a great read for anyone trying to find themselves, especially teens. In a world where being different is looked down upon, Graceling teaches everyone to be who you are and love others for their gifts."
